We had dinner tonight in a beautifully clean and tidy restaurant. The owner’s daughter was smart as a whip, spoke excellent English and was very helpful.
Their restaurant was right across from our hotel which we might not have ever found if it weren’t for this kind man, his son and willowy, long legged daughter. She was taller than Doug and a good 6 inches taller than her very proud pappa.

We are constantly amazed. People have been wonderful. Unsolicited, people stop and give us bottled water. They see us walking, pull over and give us their bottled water. Sometimes they give us snacks too.
I am sure that it was very nice to be able to fully converse with a “local”. It probably gets old just saying Hi, goodbye and thanks in Chinese!
It is nice for both of us! I wonder if Doug is bored with having only me to talk to for the last 7 weeks!
